On Thursday, December 12, we look forward to welcoming Washington County Chair, Ms. Kathryn Harrington, who will be reflecting upon her goals and vision for Washington County over the next 5 to 10 years. This town hall community conversation is intended to create opportunities for collaboration and build bridges of understanding with city government towards a stronger and more thriving community.
Meet Kathryn Harrington, Chair, Washington County Board of Commissioners
For Kathryn Harrington, Washington County is first true home. After being raised in the military family and all the attendant moves from one airbase to another, moving to Oregon was the first time she had a chosen home of her own. Kathryn moved to Beaverton for a job in the high tech industry. She managed large organizations and business units developing, marketing, and supporting software products, most recently at Intel Corporation in Hillsboro for over 10 years. After a successful 22-year career in high tech, Kathryn decided to shift her career focus to serving the community. In 2006 she was first elected to represent the communities of Washington County at the Metro Regional Government. Having served in that position for 12 years she is now proud to serve as the Chair of the Washington County Board of Commissioners, having won that election in November 2018.
Kathryn wants to make sure everyone in Washington has a chance to thrive, that the government is effective in achieving this and that it also reflects the community it serves. Kathryn and her husband, Marc, reside in Beaverton and enjoy cycling, hiking and cross-country skiing.
